On second thought, sleep in a little
Also known as: What to do when you’re approaching your son’s 10th birthday *in Heaven
to do
don’t snooze the alarm / on second thought, sleep in a little / buy the paper plates / order takeout again / avoid the Instagram trend of showing pictures from 2016 / actually, just avoid Instagram / take a nap / get inspired / plan a party / make the invitation / send a bunch of texts / ask for prayer / say no to chaperoning the field trip / say yes to the class ice cream party / allow yourself a big cry / wait a little while, wait too long, finally take down the tree / make a new appointment / and another / and another / get a little overstimulated every day / order the lion shirts, no, for real this time, press purchase, time is running out / forget to cancel your subscription / but also successfully cancel your free trial / drink some water / remember to breathe / remember to pack the snacks / remember to pick up your kids / do a lot of remembering / cry a little bit more / pull the soft blanket up higher / ask for help / take them up on their offers / tell his story again / speak his name / fill your home, your car, your days, your life with his memory / because ten years is a blink and a lifetime all in itself and soon enough it’ll be even longer.

I don't know your boy at all, or his story, and I'm so sorry for the loss you experience. Praying for you right now. Thank you for sharing this.
Reading with tears in my eyes. Your precious boy. "Ten years is a blink and a lifetime all in itself." Thank you, Meg, for inviting us into the ways you are fighting through a life forever changed.
